I am really excited to share today’s recipe. It is one of my mother in-law’s specialities. It is extremely easy to cook and is a delicious company along with white steamed rice. Today’s comfort food is Sheem Paturi, now ready to be served from my kitchen to yours.
Take a bowl, add the black mustard seeds, two green chilies and soak it in water for some time. Now take a grinding cup, pour the soaked mustard and green chilies into the cup along with the water, add a pinch of salt and blend it into a fine paste.
Heat oil in a pan, put it on medium flame, sprinkle the panch phoron and dry red chilies, sauté it a little and then add the onions and fry it till it turns light golden in colour. Now add the sheem or brussels sprouts, mix it well with the onions, cover the lid and cook it for 4 minutes. Next remove the lid, check if the sheem has turned soft and tender, add the chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, salt to taste and sugar and mix it well, cover the lid and let it cook for 5 more minutes. Now remove the lid, see if the sheem has started to release oil, give it a stir add the mustard paste and stir it again, now cover the lid and cook it for 3 more minutes. Remove the lid, turn off the flame, sprinkle some mustard oil and chopped coriander, your Sheem Paturi is ready to be served with white steamed rice. Enjoy!
P.S – While using brussel sprouts, remove the pointed ends from both sides, you can use the whole sheem in the recipe or cut it into equal halves.
