Honey Chilli Potato
It’s the weekend and instead of ordering snacks and fast foods from restaurants, or cheap take away joints in your locality, treat your family to some home cooked Honey Chilli Potato. It is easy to cook, wholesome, comforting and healthy as well. So let’s get started, today’s comfort food is Honey Chilli Potato.

  1. Peel off the potatoes and cut them in the shape of French fries. Now take a pot, add a pinch of salt and boil the potatoes until they are half done. Use the time to chop the vegetables. Take a pan and roast 1tsp of the sesame seeds. When the potatoes are done, strain the water and let the potatoes to cool down.
Recipe Notes

Sprinkle 1tbsp of corn flour and 1 tbsp of plain flour to the boiled potatoes and mix it well, so that the wet batter sticks well to the potatoes while we fry them. Now to prepare the wet batter, take a bowl add the remaining plain flour, same amount of corn flour, a pinch of salt and water to prepare a thick batter. Remember to add little water at a time to avoid lumps and acquire the required consistency of the batter.

Now take oil in a pan, enough to deep fry the potatoes. Dip the potatoes in the wet batter and put it in the frying pan. Take out the potatoes when they turn light golden brown. After you have fried all the potatoes, add them back in the frying pan to fry it again for a second time to make it even crunchier. Keep the flame in medium heat the entire time, to avoid burning the potatoes. Be careful to take it of the pan once they turn deep golden in colour.

Next add some oil to a wok, let it heat, add the chopped garlic, green chillies, and the remaining raw sesame seeds and cook it for a minute. Now add the chopped onions and capsicum and cook the entire thing for a minute. Now sprinkle some salt and sugar and give it a stir. Now add the soya sauce and red chilli sauce, stir it well and cook it for a minute. Now add the tomato sauce and stir it well with all the ingredients for another minute. Next add some black pepper powder and give it another stir. Add ½ cup water to the wok and stir all the ingredients together and let it boil. Use the time to prepare the corn flour solution, required to make the gravy thick. Take 1tbsp of corn four in a bowl, add 3tbsp of water to the same and mix it well. Now add the corn flour solution to the gravy, a little by little and keep stirring it well. In no time the gravy will turn thick. Now turn off the flame, add the chopped spring onion greens, 2tbsp of honey and mix it well with the gravy. Now add the fried potatoes and mix it well. Sprinkle the roasted sesame seeds and some more of spring onion greens for garnishing; your Honey Chilli Potato is ready to be served. Enjoy!!!

P.S – Adding the corn flour solution is optional, in case you want to skip it, add less water to the gravy.
